My Blacktail in the hand feels like quality and ready for the job. A nice size and blade point for multiple tasks. Still a quality knife in certain aspects, even though it is assembled in China. I also have the Puma Skinner, made and assembled in Germany. In comparing the two, the Skinner obviously was more carefully or skillfully finished. On my Blacktail, the forward top part of the fingerguard on one side of the blade doesn't evenly match the other side. Also, the one side of the fingerguard, even when I first got it, had scratch marks from the poorly placed snap button on the strap on the sheath. The base of the snap rides on the fingerguard when knife is secured in the sheath. That, plus another thing or two almost had me ask for a replacement but I decided it wasn't worth the hassle. I remedied the snap button scratching problem by getting from a store's hardware section a self-adhesive felt pad the right size (like are used for cupboard doors) and sticking it on the base of the snap. Overall, this Blacktail is a keeper and I use it most days of the week for one thing or another.
